Hongeo
Coming in next on the list of Korea's worst-smelling food is hongeo, a traditional dish of fermented fish made from skate, that shares similar nose-pinching odor qualities as a porta potty, according to some. It basically reeks of ammonia, which is produced for fermentation and preservation purposes. Served in raw slices, it resembles sashimi and is probably easier to eat with a few condiments and lots of Korean rice wine. Plain hongeo enthusiasts would beg to differ.
