Warning Signs that Tell You When Your Food Has Gone Bad

The life of fresh veggies very much depends on how you store them, so always make sure to follow proper storage guidelines. Most of them are no longer good when they show signs of discoloration, a soft or mushy texture, wilting, sliminess and mold. Some are harder to evaluate than others, including potatoes and onions, which tend to sprout the longer you  keep them, but that doesn't mean they're bad. Just cut off the sprouts and keep an eye out for slimy, mushy textures and mold. Sometimes you can get away with cutting off moldy parts of veggies that haven't been fully spoiled. If your gut feeling is that it's somewhat risky, don't eat it.

INGREDIENTS

  • Peanuts
  • Carrot
  • Mango
  • Rocket
  • 2 limes
  • Olive oil
  • Soy sauce
  • Red onion, minced
  • Salt
  • Pepper

 

METHOD

  1. Lightly sautée the peanuts until golden.
  2. Take the carrots and cut into thin slices.
  3. Peel the mango and slice into thin strips.
  4. Squeeze the juice from 2 limes into a bowl, and add olive oil, soy sauce, minced onion, salt and pepper.
  5. In a bowl, toss together the mango, carrot, rocket, and lime-soy dressing.
  6. Enjoy!
