If Dad is more of a sweet tooth, then here are some dessert recipes worthy of his admiration. Caramelized pears nestled in chocolate ganache is a deliciously decadent choice.
Preheat the oven to 350° F. Bake a 10-inch prepared pie crust for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown. Set aside.
Caramelize 3 sliced pears (cored and peeled) on the stove. Spoon into the cooked pie crust.
For the ganache (icing), boil 1/2 cup light whipping cream in a saucepan. Pour on top of 4 ounces chopped semisweet chocolate. Let melt on its own for a minute. Then whisk together until completely melted. Pour the ganache onto the pear preparation, and arrange 8 thin pear slices in a kind of spoke formation on top. Garnish with crushed pistachios. Place in the fridge for 2 hours and serve at room temperature.
