Green bean casserole

Turns out green bean casserole is a cinch to make from scratch when you have your crock pot to rely on. This recipe ditches the canned soup (high in fat and sodium) and the processed fried onions in favor of fresh mushrooms, green beans and homemade fried shallots. Add a little butter, cooking stock and corn starch to thicken things, up and you've got a delicious makeover of the holiday classic in less than 2 hours.
