Watch out for these ‘light’ summer meals that are anything but!

Grilled bratwurst

They look innocent enough, given their compact shape and the cooking method, but we'd feel bad if we didn't tell you to go for the salad over these bad boys in disguise any day. BBQ fare doesn't have the reputation of being light, but we usually console ourselves with the fact that it's mostly protein. Sorry to say that one single link ends up being around 300 calories, so if you don't stop there, you're headed down a bloated road.

Dive into summer with this fresh, light and healthy mango salad!

INGREDIENTS

  • Peanuts
  • Carrot
  • Mango
  • Rocket
  • 2 limes
  • Olive oil
  • Soy sauce
  • Red onion, minced
  • Salt
  • Pepper

 

METHOD

  1. Lightly sautée the peanuts until golden.
  2. Take the carrots and cut into thin slices.
  3. Peel the mango and slice into thin strips.
  4. Squeeze the juice from 2 limes into a bowl, and add olive oil, soy sauce, minced onion, salt and pepper.
  5. In a bowl, toss together the mango, carrot, rocket, and lime-soy dressing.
  6. Enjoy!
